I originally hail from Philadelphia, have been all around the country, and am currently settled in Brooklyn, NY. In my travels, I have been sickened by the loose usage of the term “cheesesteak” (or “Philly cheesesteak”). The purpose of this blog is to inform the world about where you can find a true cheesesteak, and where you will be most definitely disappointed.

The idea for this website is awesome. You need to set up a system where people can submit entries, like a form or something. I’ve moved all over the place and have found only disappointment after disappointment. One place in Atlanta put mustard and lettuce on it with swiss cheese…it was seriously inedible. I’m sure there are plenty of people like me too who would submit entries. Just a thought.
Hi Timothy,
Thanks for the suggestion, that’s a great idea. I’d love to hear other people’s nightmare cheesesteak experiences, as well as good suggestions for travelers.
I went to college in Atlanta and never had a good cheesesteak. I recall Woody’s on Monroe, which had the closest thing resembling a cheesesteak, but they also put mustard on it. Sacrilege.
Let me look into a form for submitting entries. In the meantime, feel free to send me any experiences you’d like to share.
I was there for a portion of my college (Georgia Tech) as well, and I did go to Woody’s. From the outside it looked like they were going to get it correct, but yeah, again with the mustard. Fortunately there is a Rita’s around the corner (was that there when you were there?), so I got the taste out of my mouth with good water ice.
I seen a “cheesesteak” on Texas Toast. You kiddin’ me?! I’m currently in DC and they call them “steak and cheeses”, but this name change still doesn’t excuse what they hand over the counter. This blog is a great idea. My brother, settled in Tucson, AZ, just sent this to me and we are loving it. Keep reppin’ and providing this important service to the world.
Thanks, Jordan. I’m getting married out in Tucson in a couple months, and plan on taking a big group over to Frankie’s for some real cheesesteaks. Love that place.
I’ve been behind on the reviews as of late, but I promise to get back on it. Feel free to submit some reviews of places in DC. I don’t get down there as much as I’d like to.
I love how fucking polite you are on here.
